The cheapest Dutch Caribbean plan that covers it. Your phone counts a little differently from the network, so keep some margin. More in our guide: how much data do I need?
Why your own SIM costs extra on Curaçao
Many visitors to Curaçao come from the Netherlands and expect their phone to work as it does in Spain. It doesn’t. Curaçao is a country within the Kingdom of the Netherlands, but the European Commission states that overseas countries and territories like Curaçao, Aruba and Bonaire are not part of EU territory. Roam like at home covers the EU and the EEA, not these islands.
So your Dutch or Belgian provider charges its rates for outside the EU, unless you buy a bundle from them. With an eSIM you know up front what you pay. The table above has today’s prices.
Your Curaçao eSIM: how it works
Curaçao doesn’t have its own plan in our shop. It’s covered by the Dutch Caribbean eSIM, which works in:
- Curaçao
- Aruba
- The Caribbean Netherlands: Bonaire, Sint Eustatius and Saba
That suits an ABC trip: one eSIM, installed before you fly, that keeps working when you hop over to Aruba or Bonaire. Visiting more islands? Try the route planner.
Digicel on Curaçao: one network, honestly
On Curaçao this plan runs on Digicel, on 4G. There’s no 5G on this plan, and Flow, the other big network, isn’t on it. For a holiday that rarely matters: maps, WhatsApp, banking apps and video calls all work fine on 4G.
Digicel says Ookla named it the network with the best coverage on Curaçao, based on tests from late 2021. In Ookla’s report for the first half of 2025, the fastest average mobile speeds went to another network, Chippie.
Where you’ll use it:
- Willemstad: Punda, Otrobanda, taxis and restaurant bookings.
- The south coast: Mambo Beach, Cas Abao and Jan Thiel.
- Banda Abou: Playa Kenepa, Grote Knip and the drive out to Westpunt.
- Klein Curaçao: a boat trip out to sea, far from the main island.
Tip: Before you drive out to Westpunt or board the boat to Klein Curaçao, download the offline map of the island in Google Maps. Then you can still find the next beach if the signal drops.
How much data for Curaçao
A week of maps, messages, socials and some photos comes to about 3 to 4 GB; two weeks to about 6 to 8 GB. Streaming or using a hotspot? Take the next size up, or an unlimited plan.
When the data runs out you stay online at 128 kbps, enough for messages and maps. Need more speed? Order another plan in two minutes; it comes with its own QR code.

Before you buy
Does my Dutch or other EU SIM roam for free on Curaçao?
No. Curaçao is part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, but not of the EU, so Roam like at home doesn't apply. Your provider charges its rates for outside the EU.
Which network will I be on in Curaçao?
Digicel, on 4G. There's no 5G on this plan, and Flow, the island's other big network, isn't on it either.
What is the best eSIM for Curaçao if I'm also visiting Aruba or Bonaire?
The Dutch Caribbean eSIM. It covers Curaçao, Aruba and the Caribbean Netherlands on one QR code, so you keep the same eSIM when you hop between the islands.
When should I install it?
At home, on wifi, a day or two before you fly. The plan only starts counting when your phone first connects in Curaçao.
What happens when my data runs out?
On the 3 GB plan and up you stay online: speed drops to 128 kbps, enough for messages and maps. The 1 GB plan stops when the data is used up. Need more? Order another plan in two minutes; it comes with its own QR code.
How does Unlimited work?
You get 1 GB a day at full speed. After that it's 5 Mbps until your daily allowance resets: enough for maps, socials and video calls. Then the next full-speed GB starts.
Can I keep my own SIM for calls and texts?
Yes. Your home SIM stays in, our eSIM does the data. Turn data roaming off for your home line and you won't get a surprise bill.
What if it doesn't work?
If it won't connect because of a fault on our side or the network's, we fix it with you. If we can't, you get your money back or a new eSIM, your choice. Never installed it? Full refund. The full rules are in our terms.
Travelling further?
One eSIM for the whole trip: these also cover Curaçao.
Or a local eSIM for the next country in Americas.
