The cheapest Europe plan that covers it, for the coverage selected by default. Your phone counts a little differently from the network, so keep some margin. More in our guide: how much data do I need?
Six sizes, one region
Europe is the one region where we offer several eSIMs, because the networks behind them cover slightly different sets of countries. They all work the same way: one QR code, and your phone switches to the local network at every border. What differs is which countries are in, and what happens when your data runs out.
| eSIM | Countries | When the data runs out | What it adds |
|---|---|---|---|
| Europe 33 | 33 | Stops | The core of the EU and the UK. Also Réunion. |
| Europe 38 | 38 | Slows to 128 kbps | Adds Latvia and the French Caribbean, drops Réunion. |
| Europe | 41 | Slows to 128 kbps | Adds Switzerland, Turkey, Serbia, Ukraine, Moldova and the Faroe Islands; no French Guiana, Guadeloupe or Martinique. |
| Europe 41 | 41 | Stops | Switzerland and Turkey with the French Caribbean; no Serbia, Ukraine or Moldova. |
| Europe 49 | 48 | Slows to 128 kbps | Europe (41) plus Albania, Montenegro, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man, Israel and Uzbekistan. |
| Europe 55 + US | 52 | Slows to 128 kbps | Europe 49 plus Bosnia, North Macedonia, Andorra and the United States. |

Which one for which trip
- Interrail or a city trip through the EU: Europe 33 or 38 usually covers it and is the cheapest. Take 38 if you’d rather slow down than get cut off when the data runs out.
- Including Switzerland: Europe (41) or Europe 41. Switzerland isn’t in the EU, and it isn’t in the two smallest sizes.
- Turkey and Greece in one trip: Europe (41) or bigger.
- The Balkans: Albania and Montenegro need Europe 49; Bosnia and North Macedonia need Europe 55 + US. Or look at our Balkans eSIM.
- Europe and the US on one trip: Europe 55 + US.
Our route planner does this for you: add your countries and it picks the smallest eSIM that covers them all.
Who needs a Europe eSIM
From outside the EU (the US, Canada, Australia, Asia): this is the main reason to buy one. Roaming from home is usually expensive, and a local SIM in every country is a hassle.
From the UK: since 2021, UK networks set their own roaming charges for Europe. Some charge a daily fee, others include roaming up to a fair-use limit. Check your contract; for a longer trip or heavy use, an eSIM is often cheaper.
From the EU: under the EU’s Roam like at home rules, your own plan works at home prices in other EU countries, up to a fair-use limit. You’ll mainly want an eSIM for countries outside those rules, such as Switzerland, Turkey, Serbia or the UK, or when you need more data than your plan’s fair use.
Unlimited, explained
Every Europe eSIM comes with an Unlimited option for 1 to 30 days. Unlimited means 1 GB a day at full speed, then 5 Mbps until the next day starts. At 5 Mbps maps, messages, socials and video calls keep working; HD streaming and big uploads don’t. It suits travellers who work on the road or use their phone as a hotspot. Most others do better with a data pack.
How much data for Europe
Two weeks of normal use (maps, messages, socials and some train-ride streaming) comes to about 8 to 9 GB. A month is closer to 20 GB. The table above has today’s prices for the selected eSIM.

Before you buy
Which Europe eSIM should I pick?
The smallest one that covers every country on your route. Click a country in the list on this page and the buy box picks a plan that covers it. Going to Switzerland, Turkey, the Balkans or the UK Channel Islands? Check the list: not every size has them.
How does Unlimited work in Europe?
You get 1 GB a day at full speed. After that it's 5 Mbps until the next day starts: enough for maps, socials and video calls. Then the next full-speed GB starts.
I live in the EU. Do I need this?
Probably not for EU travel: under the EU's Roam like at home rules, your own plan works at home prices in other EU countries, within a fair-use limit. It's useful if you're from outside the EU, or need more data than your fair use allows.
When should I install it?
At home, on wifi, a day or two before you fly. The plan only starts counting when your phone first connects at your destination.
What happens when my data runs out?
On the 3 GB plan and up you stay online: speed drops to 128 kbps, enough for messages and maps. The 1 GB plan stops when the data is used up. Need more? Order another plan in two minutes; it comes with its own QR code.
How does Unlimited work?
You get 1 GB a day at full speed. After that it's 5 Mbps until your daily allowance resets: enough for maps, socials and video calls. Then the next full-speed GB starts.
Can I keep my own SIM for calls and texts?
Yes. Your home SIM stays in, our eSIM does the data. Turn data roaming off for your home line and you won't get a surprise bill.
What if it doesn't work?
If it won't connect because of a fault on our side or the network's, we fix it with you. If we can't, you get your money back or a new eSIM, your choice. Never installed it? Full refund. The full rules are in our terms.
