How much data for United States?
Light is maps, messages and ride apps (about 0.25 GB a day). Normal adds socials and stories (about 0.6 GB a day). Heavy is streaming, hotspot and work: that's unlimited.
| Trip | Light | Normal | Heavy |
|---|---|---|---|
| 7 days | €7.993 GB, 30 days | €10.495 GB, 30 days | €22.497 days unlimited |

The cheapest United States plan that covers it, for the coverage selected by default. Your phone counts a little differently from the network, so keep some margin. More in our guide: how much data do I need?
Verizon, coast to coast
The United States eSIM runs on Verizon, with 5G. In Opensignal’s July 2026 report T-Mobile won most awards, 12 of 16, mainly on speed. Verizon won Coverage, and coverage is what you notice on a road trip: on the interstates, in small towns and on the way to the parks. AT&T won Time on Network.
Road trips and national parks
Most US trips involve a car. Navigation itself uses little data, but the distances are long, and music and podcasts in the car add up.
- Download before you drive. Save the region in Google Maps, and your route, motels and tickets.
- National parks: many have little or no signal inside, from Joshua Tree to the Great Smoky Mountains. The free NPS App lets you save a park for offline use; do it at your motel the night before.
- Hotspot: this plan supports it, so a passenger’s laptop or tablet can share your data.
Cities
- New York: the subway has signal in the stations, and maps, ride apps and food delivery all use data.
- Los Angeles and San Francisco: ride apps and maps, a lot. LA’s distances add up.
- Las Vegas, Miami, Chicago: photos, video and socials. This is where Unlimited earns its keep.
How much data for the US
Two weeks of normal use (maps, ride apps, messages and socials) comes to about 8 to 9 GB, so 10 GB is the sweet spot. On a road trip with music streaming in the car, count on more: 15 to 20 GB for two to three weeks. The table above has today’s prices.
On the 3 GB plan and bigger, you stay online at 128 kbps when the data runs out: slow, but enough for messages and maps.
Guam, Canada or Mexico as well?
- Guam: pick Guam + USA in the buy box on this page.
- Canada and Mexico: the North America eSIM covers all three countries, on T-Mobile and Verizon in the US. It’s on our Americas page.
- Europe and the US on one trip: Europe 55 + US covers both, on AT&T in the US.

Before you buy
Which network will I be on in the US?
Verizon, with 5G. In Opensignal's July 2026 report Verizon won the Coverage award, which counts on a road trip.
Do I get a US phone number?
No, it's data only. WhatsApp, FaceTime and your banking app keep working on your own number.
Does it work in the national parks?
Where Verizon has signal, yes. But in many parks there's little or no signal on any network. Download your maps and the park in the NPS App before you drive in.
When should I install it?
At home, on wifi, a day or two before you fly. The plan only starts counting when your phone first connects in the United States.
What happens when my data runs out?
On the 3 GB plan and up you stay online: speed drops to 128 kbps, enough for messages and maps. The 1 GB plan stops when the data is used up. Need more? Order another plan in two minutes; it comes with its own QR code.
How does Unlimited work?
You get 1 GB a day at full speed. After that it's 5 Mbps until your daily allowance resets: enough for maps, socials and video calls. Then the next full-speed GB starts.
Can I keep my own SIM for calls and texts?
Yes. Your home SIM stays in, our eSIM does the data. Turn data roaming off for your home line and you won't get a surprise bill.
What if it doesn't work?
If it won't connect because of a fault on our side or the network's, we fix it with you. If we can't, you get your money back or a new eSIM, your choice. Never installed it? Full refund. The full rules are in our terms.
Travelling further?
One eSIM for the whole trip: these also cover United States.
Or a local eSIM for the next country in Americas.
