How much data for Singapore?

Light is maps, messages and ride apps (about 0.25 GB a day). Normal adds socials and stories (about 0.6 GB a day). Heavy is streaming, hotspot and work: that's unlimited.

The cheapest Singapore plan that covers it. Your phone counts a little differently from the network, so keep some margin. More in our guide: how much data do I need?

One network, honestly

The Singapore eSIM runs on StarHub, on 4G. We’d rather say that up front: there’s no 5G on this plan. In Opensignal’s July 2026 report Singtel won Best Network and the 5G awards; StarHub won several awards too and is closing the gap.

For a traveller, StarHub’s 4G is plenty. Maps, Grab, the MRT, video calls and socials all work without a hitch.

Want Singtel and 5G? The Southeast Asia eSIM uses Singtel and StarHub in Singapore, and the Asia eSIM uses Singtel. Both cost more for Singapore alone, but they make sense if Singapore is one stop on a longer trip.

Stopover or city break

Singapore is the classic stopover between Europe and Australia or Southeast Asia. A day of maps, transport and messages fits in 1 GB. Two days or more, or using your phone as a hotspot for your laptop? Take 3 or 5 GB.

Where you’ll use it:

  • Changi: the airport has free wifi, but with your eSIM you’re online from the gate.
  • The MRT: Google Maps and Citymapper both know every line and transfer.
  • Hawker centres and Grab: ordering, paying and finding your way.
  • Sentosa and the Gardens: lots of photos, which only use data when you upload them.

How much data for Singapore

Three days of normal use (maps, Grab, messages and socials) comes to about 2 GB. A week is about 4 to 5 GB. The table above has today’s prices.

On the 3 GB plan and bigger, you stay online at 128 kbps when the data runs out: slow, but enough for messages and maps.

Going on to Malaysia, Thailand or Bali?

Then don’t buy a Singapore-only eSIM. The Southeast Asia eSIM covers Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam on one QR code.

The rules in full

Before you buy

Which network will I be on in Singapore?

StarHub, on 4G. Singtel, the network with the most 5G, isn't on the Singapore-only plan; it is on the Southeast Asia and Asia eSIMs.

Is 4G enough in Singapore?

For a traveller, yes: maps, Grab, messages, video calls and socials all work fine on 4G.

I'm only in Singapore for a stopover. Which plan?

For a day in the city with maps and messages, 1 GB is enough. Two days or more, or lots of photos to upload? Take 3 GB. The table above has the prices.

When should I install it?

At home, on wifi, a day or two before you fly. The plan only starts counting when your phone first connects in Singapore.

What happens when my data runs out?

On the 3 GB plan and up you stay online: speed drops to 128 kbps, enough for messages and maps. The 1 GB plan stops when the data is used up. Need more? Order another plan in two minutes; it comes with its own QR code.

How does Unlimited work?

You get 1 GB a day at full speed. After that it's 5 Mbps until your daily allowance resets: enough for maps, socials and video calls. Then the next full-speed GB starts.

Can I keep my own SIM for calls and texts?

Yes. Your home SIM stays in, our eSIM does the data. Turn data roaming off for your home line and you won't get a surprise bill.

What if it doesn't work?

If it won't connect because of a fault on our side or the network's, we fix it with you. If we can't, you get your money back or a new eSIM, your choice. Never installed it? Full refund. The full rules are in our terms.

Travelling further?

One eSIM for the whole trip: these also cover Singapore.

Or a local eSIM for the next country in Asia.
