The cheapest Cambodia plan that covers it. Your phone counts a little differently from the network, so keep some margin. More in our guide: how much data do I need?

Two networks, 4G

The Cambodia eSIM runs on Cellcard and Metfone, two of the country’s three big networks. Your phone connects to the strongest and switches by itself. The third, Smart, isn’t on this plan.

Is that a problem? Not really. Rankings in Cambodia change from report to report: in Opensignal’s February 2025 report Smart won the most awards, a year later Cellcard did, with Metfone close behind. With two of the three on one eSIM, you have a fallback if one is weak.

There’s no 5G on this plan, and you won’t miss it. Cambodia’s 4G does everything a traveller needs.

Getting in

Most travellers arrive by plane in Siem Reap or Phnom Penh, or over land from Vietnam. As of October 2026, the land border with Thailand is closed to travellers, including the Aranyaprathet–Poipet crossing. If you were planning the bus from Bangkok, fly instead. Your eSIM doesn’t mind how you arrive: it connects when you land.

Where you’ll use it

  • Siem Reap and Angkor: you’ll use it for the tuk-tuk apps, the temple map and the photos. Grab and the local favourite PassApp both work over data.
  • Phnom Penh: the same, plus translating menus and finding your way in the traffic.
  • Kampot, Kep and the coast: quieter, and a good place to download your next bus ticket while you have wifi.
  • The islands: take your offline maps and boat times with you before you board.

How much data for Cambodia

Most people spend a week to ten days in Cambodia. With normal use (maps, ride apps, messages and socials) that’s about 4 to 6 GB, so 5 GB fits. Two weeks is closer to 10 GB. The table above has today’s prices.

On the 3 GB plan and bigger, you stay online at 128 kbps when the data runs out: slow, but enough for messages and maps.

Part of a bigger trip?

Cambodia is often one stop on a longer loop through Southeast Asia. Going on to Vietnam or Laos? One regional eSIM can be cheaper than separate ones. See Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia and the Banana Pancake Trail for today’s prices.

The rules in full

Before you buy

Which network will I be on in Cambodia?

Cellcard or Metfone. Your phone picks the strongest. Smart, the third big network, isn't on this plan.

Is there 5G in Cambodia?

Not on this plan: it runs on 4G. That's plenty for maps, ride apps, video calls and uploading your Angkor sunrise.

Can I cross from Thailand by land?

Not at the moment. As of October 2026 the land border between Thailand and Cambodia is closed to travellers. Fly in, or come overland from Vietnam or Laos.

When should I install it?

At home, on wifi, a day or two before you fly. The plan only starts counting when your phone first connects in Cambodia.

What happens when my data runs out?

On the 3 GB plan and up you stay online: speed drops to 128 kbps, enough for messages and maps. The 1 GB plan stops when the data is used up. Need more? Order another plan in two minutes; it comes with its own QR code.

How does Unlimited work?

You get 1 GB a day at full speed. After that it's 5 Mbps until your daily allowance resets: enough for maps, socials and video calls. Then the next full-speed GB starts.

Can I keep my own SIM for calls and texts?

Yes. Your home SIM stays in, our eSIM does the data. Turn data roaming off for your home line and you won't get a surprise bill.

What if it doesn't work?

If it won't connect because of a fault on our side or the network's, we fix it with you. If we can't, you get your money back or a new eSIM, your choice. Never installed it? Full refund. The full rules are in our terms.
